Postgraduate Department of Statistics

The Postgraduate Department of Statistics started on 29 September 2014. We have now 18 seats and offers highly challenging and demanding topics in the area of Statistics in each semester.
Statistics is a dynamic  and thriving scientific discipline that has relevance in almost every area of the modern world. The M.Sc in Statistics offers a broad high-level training in applied and computational statistics, statistical machine learning and the fundamental principles of statistical inference. Training is delivered through mathematically demanding lectures and problem classes, hands on practical sessions in the computer laboratory, report writing and dissertation supervision. There are a lot of  opportunities for M.Sc statistics graduate in industry, government, IT, economics and finance.

To produce the top statisticians in the nation by providing in-depth academic and practical knowledge of statistics.

 

To prepare the students to be capable of doing every kind of data analysis and to be helpful to society by providing an outstanding environment of teaching in the core and emerging areas of the discipline.

Welcome to the Postgraduate Department of Statistics.

The Department is committed to provide a vigorous and innovative environment to all our students who wanted to make a career out in the field of core Statistics. The objective of our academic programmes focuses on the deep understanding of the fundamental concepts and to develop an analytical ability in the students to solve complex  problems. It also in parts training exposure to the students on the computerized learning in the statistical   software  R to enable them to perform Statistical analysis. To meet all the objectives, the department gives attention equally on the teaching as well as practical works. The students  exhibits  their learning in the final semester by submitting a project  work.
