Prof M P Varghese Library

The library of Mar Athanasius college is named after Prof. M. P. Varghese, the doyen of education, an economist and great visionary. It is housed in an exclusive three storied building having 25,194 sq.ft. space. A spacious section for periodicals, network resource centre, reference section and stack area ensures readers' comfort in the library. M. P. Varghese library holds the unique record of being the first automated college library in Kerala and the first college library to have internet facility. Strict silence, dignity and decorum must be observed in the library and its premises.

• Members should write their name and other details and sign in the visitors register kept in the library at the time of entry into the library.

• Identity Card is mandatory for getting access to the library. It should be worn in such a way so that it is visible to the library staff.

• Identity Cards are strictly non-transferable.

• Personal belongings such as bags, files, umbrellas, gadget covers, text books, issued books & other printed materials etc must be left at the property counter. The library will not accept responsibility for the loss or damage to the personal property left in its premises.

• One note book may be allowed on request to facilitate taking down notes. Members should show the note book which is being taken out of the library to the staff at the counters.

• Members should check the books and other materials before they are taken out of the library in order to report mutilation or damage if any. If the books are lost, the members should replace the books of the same edition or latest edition. Loss of books should be reported to the librarian immediately.

• Members are required to handle the books and other materials very carefully. Marking, writing, highlighting, underlining, tearing, damage caused by dog-earing of the pages etc. will be viewed very seriously. Students will be permitted to take a maximum of two books at a time.

• Issued books are not transferable. Renewal and reservation facilities are available.

• Members should not misplace or replace the books in the shelf.

• The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the members shall return the same immediately.

• For the late return of books and other materials an overdue charge will be levied. Each member should obtain a No Dues certificate from the library after returning all the books issued, surrendering the Identity cards and after paying outstanding dues if any
