This college is one of the foremost higher educational institutions in Kerala to be accredited with ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore. It was reaccredited with a prestigious ‘A+’ grade (3rd Cycle) in 2017.

 AUTONOMOUS STATUS
In 2016, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Winny Varghese, Secretary, Mar Athanasius College Association, the college actualised its long cherished dream - Autonomous status. Academic autonomy was sought to benefit the student community. With its timely planned academic schedule, time bound results, flexibility and improvements in the curriculum, autonomy intends to maintain and promote academic excellence, qualitative development and higher employability for the students.

 DBT STAR SCHEME
Four departments - Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology received financial assistance from the Govt. of India under DBT Star Scheme in 2019 later extended to 2024.

 UNNATH BHARATH ABHIYAN
Mar Athanasius College (Autonomous) was selected for Unnath Bharath Abhiyan as part of the MHRD scheme. A baseline survey on the living standards of the people in five villages - Kothamangalam, Keerampara, Pindimana, Varappetty, Thrikkariyoor - and one municipality has been conducted. The aim is the total upliftment of the people residing there.

 PARAMARSH SCHEME
The UGC, Delhi has identified the college as a potential mentor, in order to help five nearby educational institutions to acquire accreditation, under the Paramarsh scheme. The Mentee institutions are Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, MBITS, Nellimattom, Mar Baselios College, Adimaly, Mount Carmel College, Karukadom and Mar Elias College, Kottapady. Mar Athanasius College of Engineering is accredited at A+ grade, MBITS, Nellimattom at B++ Grade, Mount Carmel College, Karukadom at A Grade, Mar Elias College, Kottapady at B++ Grade.



 WALK WITH A SCHOLAR
Under this programme offered by Kerala State Higher Education Department, students get opportunities to participate in specialized mentoring programmes as a guidance for their future. Here mentors become ‘Guide’ and ‘Friend’ to the scholars. It provides exposure to mould the potentials of its recipients.

 SCHOLAR SUPPORT PROGRAMME
New initiatives in Higher Education programmes provide additional curricular support based on the result of the qualifying exams.
